The Hancock County Sheriff’s Home and Jail is located in downtown Ellsworth between the library and the county courthouse.
Since rescuing the building from demolition in 1980, this has become the headquarters of the all-volunteer Ellsworth Historical Society. The building is used for meetings, museum display and storage.
